Arrietta Spears Taylor

Mrs. Mary Arrietta Spears Taylor, 93, died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 18th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Don Ray officiating and eulogy by Speedy Calvert. Interment will be in East County Line Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home. Mrs. Taylor was born January 30, 1919, in Leake County, MS. She was a homemaker and a member of East County Line Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Taylor; a son, Jerry “Red” Taylor; a son-in-law, Bill Nelson; her parents, George and Supelia Spears; 5 sisters, Ima Cummins, Verneal Burchfield, Lucille Norris, Georgia Spears, and an infant sister; and two brothers, Doyle L. Spears and Riley E. Spears. She is survived by two daughters, Joanne (Lanoy) Adcock of Philadelphia, MS, and Janette Nelson of Brandon, MS; daughter-in-law, Monica Taylor of Louisville; a sister, Iora Lavergne of Sturgis, MS; a foster son, Roger (Phyllis) Gillett of Louisville; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Nathan Calvert, Lucas Calvert, Colin Nelson, Drew Breland, Lafayette Spears, and Larry Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers are Joey Nelson, Andy Breland, and David Sims. Memorials may be made to the East County Line Cemetery Fund.
