Nancy A. McCool

Nancy Aycock McCool, age 91, entered into the joy of her Lord on Friday, October 19. Funeral services are at 3:00 pm Sunday, at the First United Methodist Church in Louisville, with visitation from 1:00-3:00 immediately prior to the service. Nancy McCool was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, David McCool, by her parents, Maude Chatham and Charles Reed Aycock, and by brothers and sisters Rodney Aycock, Charlie B. Aycock, Angie Virginia Mayeaux, and Ruby Lee Gardner. She is survived by her children, Charles E. McCool (wife, Beth) and Linda M. Waldron (husband, Ed), by five grandchildren, Joey McCool (wife, Courtney), Cara McCool, Alison Whitney (husband, Chandler), Jennifer Caperton (husband, Roger) and Mary Esther Slater (husband, Steven), and by nine great grandchildren. Nancy McCool was a native of Rose Hill and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Louisville for some 70 years, where she taught Sunday School and was a Methodist Youth Fellowship leader and later became an active member of the Ed Livingston Sunday School Class. She was also a former member of Louisville's Fortnightly Club and Women's Junior Auxiliary as well as other service clubs. For 27years, she was the financial secretary for Inter-City Federal Savings and Loan, now a part of Renasant Bank. She began her working career at the Rex Soda Shop in Louisville, followed by positions in Texas banks as she continued her education at Tyler Commercial College. During World War II, while her husband served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater, she was employed in a secretarial capacity for California winery and furrier companies. After World War II, she worked at the University of Mississippi to help put her husband through both undergraduate and graduate school in accounting. Following the completion of her husband's education, she and her husband returned to Louisville in 1948, where they began their family. Nancy McCool loved her Lord, her community, her church, and especially her family, where she was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as NanNan. Pallbearers are Roger Caperton, Joey McCool, Tommy Russell, Steven Slater, Chandler Whitney, and Jim Wood. The family wishes to extend their special thanks to Brother Mike Childs, to her caregivers Betty Chappel, Ruthie George, and Demetrice Kennedy, and to Sonya Berryhill and Christie Dempsey, staff members of Sta-Home Hospice.
