Elisabeth Herring Sinclair

September 14, 1926 — December 25, 2012

Mrs. Elisabeth Thurmond Herring Sinclair, died December 25, 2012, at her home in Tupelo, MS, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 29th, at Grace Episcopal Church at 161 E. Peace St, Canton, MS. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at Grace Episcopal Church. Interment will be in Canton Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home of Louisville is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Sinclair was born September 14, 1926, Gracey, Kentucky. She graduated from Hopkinsville High School in Hopkinsville, KY; and attended Sullins College in Bristol, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Lee Eckles and John L. Thurmond; two husbands, Lawrence M. Herring, and Dr. Charlie R. Sinclair; two sons, Don Herring and Lute Herring; and two brothers, John M. Thurmond, and Lute E. Thurmond. Elisabeth loved being a wife, mother, aunt, and having all the family with her. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, the Episcopal Church, and was never without a faithful dog companion. She is survived by her son, William L. (Fran) Herring of Tupelo; five step-children, Charlie Ray (Stephanie) Sinclair, Jr. of Brandon, MS, Kathryn S. (Paul) White of Tupelo, Karon S. (Clint) Barnes of Brandon, MS, Becky S. (Harry) Pepper of Canton, and Wanda S. (Will) Tucker of Rapids, MI; eighteen step-grandchildren, and five step-great grandchildren; and special caregivers, Nikki Tyes, Janice Hollis, and Shelia Shannon. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
