William H. "Bill" Sullivan

Mr. William Harvey “Bill” Sullivan, 92, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, May 19th, at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Brett Golson and Rev. Grady Crowell officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Sullivan was born January 11, 1921, in Winston County, Mississippi. He went to school in Winston County, and joined the U. S. Navy in August 1942, where he was attached to the U. S. Submarine Base in Pearl Harbor. Bill married Joyce Metts on September 21, 1945, and received an honorable discharge from the Navy in October, 1945. He worked 18 years for Bill Breed Chevrolet and 22 years for Taylor Machine Works. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he and Joyce worked in the nursery for over 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Eaves and Herbert Sullivan; and five brothers, J.C. Sullivan, Johnny Sullivan, Dwight Sullivan, Dues Sullivan, and Farrel Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Metts Sullivan; one daughter, Beverly (Richard) Ballard of Louisville; four grandchildren, Will (Jamie) Ballard, Dane (Keli) Ballard, Luke Ballard, and Elisabeth (Tyler) Golson; and one great grandson, Sutton Dane Ballard.
