Royce T. Womble

Mr. Royce T. Womble, 88, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, June 20th, at Good Hope Baptist Church, with Rev. Jason Gross officiating. Interment will be in Good Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home. Mr. Womble was born February 10, 1925, in Louisville, MS. He retired as chief engineer on a towboat on the Mississippi River. He and his wife, Beryl, were born and grew up in the area before moving to Memphis, where they lived for 33 years, and moved back to Winston County in 1987 when he retired. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beryl Holton Womble of Louisville; two daughters, Beverly Parker of Houston, TX, and Deborah Myers of Park City, Utah; a sister, Bonnie (Elmer) Durden of Pascagoula, MS; a brother, Wallace (Doris) Womble of Pascagoula, MS; and a granddaughter, Meredith Marie (Christian) Christensen. Pallbearers will be Christian Christensen, Luke Parkes, Ricky Patterson, Richie Lovorn, Chris Moody, Buddy Fulton, Rusty Hanna, and Johnny Hatcher. Memorials may be made to Good Hope Baptist Church.
