Mrs. Bettye Jeanne Davis McGee, born April 22, 1938, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on May 31, 2018 at Winston County Nursing Home. She was the wife of Lt. Colonel (ret.) William Henry (“Spec”) McGee for 54 years and served him and our country faithfully as a military wife. After retiring from the U.S. Army, Bettye and Henry moved back to Louisville, MS where she joyfully served as the Food Service Coordinator of the First Baptist Church for over 10 years. She was known far and wide for her caramel and coconut cakes, and her home was always open to friends and family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Colonel (ret.) Henry McGee and her parents, Bruner and Henry Davis. She is survived by her children-- Dr. Shawn Campbell of Lexington, KY and Bill (Angie) McGee of Louisville, MS; and by her grandchildren-- Mason McGee of Slidell, LA; Hayden McGee of Louisville, MS; Kathryn (Jake) Capan of Lexington, KY; and Cason Campbell of Lexington, KY. She is also survived by her sister Barbara (Johnny) Woodward, her brother Steve (Sharon) Davis, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bonnie and Danny Jewell. We will celebrate her life on Saturday, June 2, 2018 with visitation at 9AM and service to follow at 11AM at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville, MS. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mason McGee, Hayden McGee, Cason Campbell, John Woodward, Dr. Davis Woodward, Parish Jewell, Ryan Jewell, and David Haggard. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Louisville.
