Mr. Donald Robert Sharp, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at the Select Specialty Hospital of Belhaven in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 22nd, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Scott Phillips officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Sharp was born December 26, 1926, in Louisville, MS. He was a graduate of East Central Community College, and Mississippi State University, where he earned degrees in mechanical engineering and petroleum geology. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity while at Mississippi State. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was owner of Sharp Construction Company for many years, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Due to failing health, Don has been a resident of the Veterans Home in Kosciusko for the past 19 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Brown and John Berlin Sharp, Sr., and two sisters, Alice Freeman Sharp Stone and Mary Susan Sharp. He is survived by two brothers, John B. Sharp, Jr. and James E. Sharp, both of Louisville; and nieces and nephews, Alice Sharp (Johnny) Wooten, Laura Sharp (Steve) Brown, Noel Stone (Chris) Thayer, Susan Sharp (Bill) Ford, and Jim Sharp, Jr. Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, or French Camp Academy.
