Mrs. Frances Lee Culpepper Garretson, 87, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Winston Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Dewayne Kelsey officiating.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home, and again on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
"Fran", as she was affectionatly called by those who knew her, was reunited with her husband of 62 years, Delbert Lee Garretson, and together they are now walking the streets of gold.
Fran was born June 7, 1938 in Louisville, MS. Fran ran The Chicken Basket where she fed and got to know many families in the community, served as a manager at TRW, and later gave her time and heart serving selflessly at Winston Medical Center. She was known for her love of adventure and her generous heart. She enjoyed camping with family and friends, playing Phase 10 with loved ones and traveling the United States. Affectionately called “Granny” by many—far beyond her own family—she had a special way of making everyone feel loved and cared for. Her laughter, warmth, and gentle spirit brought joy to all who knew her, and her kindness will be remembered always. She was a member of the Louisville Chapter #60 Order of the Eastern Star Louisville, MS. Fran attended Lighthouse Pentecostal Church for the majority of her life where she played the piano and sang. She then attended Zion Chapel Pentecostal Church for the remainder of her years.
Fran is preceded in death by her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. (Hannie B. Hill) Culppepper; One brother, Joseph T. Culpepper; and two sisters, Geraldine Prisock and Ruby Jean Smith Hurt.
She is survived by a sister, Patricia (Leon) Roberson; her only son, Charles Timothy "Tim" (Tammy) Garretson; and 12 adored grandchildren, Krista Garretson Fulcher, Mark (Jenae) Garretson, Brandon (Ayla) Garretson, John Mark (Kristen) Dickerson, and Linsey (John) Anderson. She loved doting on her great grandchildren, Kaydn Fussell, Maddie (Logan) Young, Gracie (Sawyer) Roberts, Kade Garretson, Aiden Reed, Bailey Garretson, Cash Fulcher, Kade Garretson, Kenzie Garretson, Emma Karsan Fulcher, John Allen Collier, Robert Jace Anderson, Kolt Garretson, and Walker Hayes Anderson.
Pallbearers are Mark Garretson, Brandon Garretson, John Mark Dickerson, John Anderson, Cash Fulcher and Aiden Reed. Honorary pallbearers are: Jimmy Roberson, Logan Young, Sawyer Roberts, and Kade Garretson.
