Harris Gillett Wood

Mr. Harris Gillett Wood, 89, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at his home in Louisville. A graveside service was held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 19th at Masonic Cemetery in Louisville. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Harris was born January 19, 1937, in Louisville, MS, to Beryl and Samuel Harris Wod. Harris was a graduate of Louisville High School. He had a long career with GM & O railroad, and later with Illinois Central and Canadian National railroads. He was a member of First Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Hayes Wood; two sons, Samuel Anthony Wood, and Timothy Wood; a step-daughter, Sharon Moon; and two brothers, Paul Wood and Douglas Wood.

He is survived by a son, Patrick Harris Wood of Louisville.

Memorials in Harris’ memory may be made to French Camp Academy or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
