Mrs. Mavis Robertson Hanna, 95, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020, at her home in the Nanih Waiya community. Mavis was born November 5, 1924, in Winston County. She graduated from high school at Southwestern Assembly of God High School in Waxahachie, TX. She was a sewing machine operator for Ford Motor Company for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of Vernon Assembly of God. Mavis was a prayer warrior and taught Sunday school for over 60 years.. She was an avid gardener, loved her flowers, and loved her grandchildren and following them in all their activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kenneth Hanna; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenny Joe and Sue Hanna; her parents, Wilbur E. and Vera Stokes Robertson; and her brothers, Harold Robertson, Willie Robertson, Herman Robertson, Steve Robertson, and Floyd Robertson. She is survived by her daughter, Anne (Ricky) Peterson of Louisville; her grandchildren, Amee Miles (Andrew) Merkle, Kristi (John David) Higginbotham, Tate (Deedra) Hanna, Trent (Mary Katherine) Hanna, Chip Peterson, Chad Peterson, and Jason (Kimberly) Peterson; great grandchildren, Zach (Jana) Hanna, Lane Hanna, Kenny Ray Hanna, Landrey Hanna, T. J. Hanna, Layton Hanna, Miles Merkle, Mason Merkle, Ty (Dakota) Higginbotham, Hanna Higginbotham, Taylor Higginbotham, Manley Peterson, Mattie Peterson, Ella Peterson, Camp Peterson, Drew Peterson, and Jake Peterson; two great great grandsons, Cohen Higginbotham and Rhett Estes; her sisters, Maxine Robertson, Margie Gully, and Marian Bateman; her brothers, Wilbur E. Robertson, Jr., and Paul “Bob” Robertson; and host of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Coy Assembly of God, the Gideons, or Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Funeral Homes have been advised to keep visitations, funerals, and memorial services to the smallest gathering of immediate family members only. Please keep these families in your prayers. and may God bless us all. ONLY 10 PERSONS MAY ATTEND, BASED ON GOVERNOR'S ORDER. In lieu of this, on Sunday there will be a private graveside service with just immediate family, and at a later date a public memorial service will be held to honor Mavis' memory.
