Peggy Joyce Smith

Noxapater

Mrs. Peggy Joyce Smith, 84, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at her home in Noxapater, MS.   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 25th, at Noxapater Baptist Church, with Rev. Trent Jaudon and Dr. Bob Massey officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home, and Monday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church.  Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery

 

Peggy was born April 8, 1939, in Louin, MS, to James Thomas and Frances Smith Greene. She was a graduate of Mathiston High School.  She married Therrell Smith on  June 8, 1974   and moved to Noxapater.   She was the secretary at Noxapater High School for many years, and was a faithful member of Noxapater Baptist Church.   Peggy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who she adored.   She loved to cook and share it with the family.  Having played basketball in high school, Peggy was an avid basketball fan and loved to watch and follow her favorite teams.  

 

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, John Greene and Jerry Greene.

 

She is survived by her husband, Therrell Smith of Noxapater; a son, Steve Smith of Gluckstadt, MS; a daughter, Heather (Ryan) Parks of Noxapater; and four grandchildren, Kalie Parks, Canon Parks. Jordan Smith, and Jarrod Smith. 

 

Pallbearers will be Jordan Smith, Canon Parks, Michael Greene, Wil Hudson, Terrell Smith, and Sid Massey. 

 

Memorials in Peggy’s memory may be made to Noxapater Baptist Church, P. O. Box 251, Noxapater, MS, 39346.
