Terry Yates Stokes

Terry Yates Stokes passed away on September 19, 2026, at his home in Louisville. He was born on July 20, 1942 in Winston County, Mississippi to Leon Stokes and Vallie Luke Stokes. Terry moved to Florida in the 1950’s, living in Okeechobee, Florida for over 40 years. He moved to Louisville, Mississippi in 1998, where he lived the remainder of his life. Throughout his life, he worked many different jobs, including operating engineer on a crane, but spent the majority of his life self-employed operating heavy equipment and machinery. Terry enjoyed going airboating, hunting, and shooting.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Vallie Stokes; brothers, Delbert Stokes, Delano Stokes, Albert Jean Stokes, Alton Stokes, and Alan Stokes; sister, Mattie Sue Stokes Green; and daughter, Jill Stokes Rogers.

He is survived by his sister, Barbara Stokes Davis (Tom); son, Bryan K. Stokes (Janelle); daughter, Amy Stokes Davis (Adam); grandkids, Bryan K. Stokes II, Jillian Stokes, Samuel Rogers, Adam Davis Jr. (Lauren), Haylee Davis, Bryson Davis, Layla Huff, and Savannah Catron (Nate); great-grandkids, Reagan Michelle Stokes, Blakely Davis, Asher Davis, Ashtyn Davis, and Daxter Catron.

A private family service was held in Florida.
