Our Beginnings
Having worked in the funeral industry in Winston County since 1978, Al Porter bought and remodeled Dr. Bob Giffin's medical clinic in 1995. This facility has 10,000 square feet of space which is available to your family for visitation, meditation, and funeral service. Porter Funeral Home is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Louisville, at 302 West Park Street, across from the Winston County Library.
Our Founder
Al Porter is a native of Lexington, MS, and moved to Louisville in 1978. He has been in the funeral business since that time. Al holds a B.S. degree from Mississippi State University and a Mortuary Science degree from East Mississippi Community College. He is licensed in funeral service and embalming. Al is a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he has served in many leadership positions. He is active in the Louisville Rotary Club, the Louisville Businessmen's Club, and the National Wild Turkey Federation. He is married to the former Rhonda Bookout, and they have three daughters: Sally, Mary Claire, and Olivia.
